¡Me encanta!

He’s got everything. . .good looks, connections, and wealth.

But when tragedy strikes he is suddenly lost.

THE MISTER, the highly anticipated new love story from #1 New York Times bestseller E L James is available now!

the mister hi res 1.22.19

London, 2019.  Life has been easy for Maxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he’s never had to work and he’s rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family’s noble title, wealth, and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. It’s a role he’s not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.

But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who’s recently arrived in England, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past.  Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she’s an alluring mystery, and Maxim’s longing for her deepens into a passion that he’s never experienced and dares not name. Just who is Alessia Demachi? And can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? And what will she do when she learns that he’s been hiding secrets of his own?

From the heart of London through wild, rural Cornwall to the bleak, forbidding beauty of the Balkans, The Mister is a roller-coaster ride of danger and desire that leaves the reader breathless to the very last page.

The Devil's Thief tour: Entrevista y Sorteo

ENTREVISTA: THE READER IN EVERY AUTHOR

What are you reading these days?
I’ve been reading a lot of research for Book 3 of The Last Magician series. So…nothing overly page-turning, unfortunately. Recently, though, I’ve read a few great books! I really loved The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan. And I got to read an early copy of Peternelle van Arsdale’s The Cold Is In Her Bones and Nicki Pau Preto’s Crown of Feathers, and I loved both of them. When they’re out later, your readers should definitely check them out.

What two books would you recommend other readers and why?
One of my very favorite books is Tim O’Brien’s The Things They Carried. It isn’t YA. It’s actually about young soldiers in the Vietnam War, but it’s such an engaging read. The reason I love it and will always love it is that it has this beautiful way of explaining how the story-truth of fiction can be just as real—and sometimes more so—than the actual just-the-facts truth.

Another really wonderful book is American Panda by Gloria Chao. The humor and heart in this one is everything a reader could want in a book.

In what ways have the books you've read influenced how you write?
I have a background in studying literature, so a lot of the books I’ve read were what a lot of people would consider literary fiction. But even with the more literary books, I have always loved books that play with the idea of what is real—books where reality could be more magical than the surface shows. A lot of people might not think that literary books can do this, but magical realism and post modern fiction—writers like Toni Morrison, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Tim O’Brien and others. Their dabbling with magic and the way that reality can be more fantastic and unbelievable sometimes has always intrigued me, and I think that’s informed my books.

I also love really lyrical and poetic writers. That’s probably because of my literature background. But writers like the modernists (think 1919-1940) who played with the way writers represented reality really inform the way I think about using images and other literary devices in my books. Writers like Fitzgerald and Kay Boyle and poets like William Carlos Williams or T.S. Eliot.

Finally, I’m a huge huge fan of romance, especially historical romances, like those written by Sarah MacLean and Julia Quinn. I love the way they create these really three-dimensional characters. So much of romance follows the same basic plot lines, but the individuality of the characters is what makes or breaks a story for me, and I think reading a lot of romance helped me understand how to create characters of my own.

And, if you could ask a question to my blog's followers, that would be awesome.

Stop the Magician.
Steal the book.
Save the future.

SYLVAIN REYNARD

último libro de la trilogía

ENTREVISTA / INTERVIEW

In this last book of the trilogy, GABRIEL'S REDEMPTION, do Gabriel and Julia face tougher challenges to their paradise than ever?

Hello. Allow me to say that it’s a pleasure to be with you and your readers.  In some sense the challenges are tougher in “Gabriel’s Redemption” because more is at stake – Gabriel and Julia have much more to lose in this novel than in the previous two.

When the first book in the trilogy, GABRIEL'S INFERNO, was published in countries such as Spain, it was marketed as Erotic. A big chunk of the book though is devoted to character and relationship development before any physical intimacy is achieved. Do you think that label was wrong and therefore responsible for reader disappointment? Or is the eroticism more subtle but still there to please the connoisseur reader?

I don’t think of my novels as erotica but they are erotic in the sense that they are sensual and they include sex.  But as you mentioned, the eroticism is subtler in my books than in those normally classified as erotica.

How did you come up with the titles for each book?

The titles reflected Dante’s “The Divine Comedy,” but also the personal journey of Gabriel.

What drew you to the works of Dante?

Part of my interest in Dante is due to my interest in Florentine history and culture.  You can’t study the history of Florence without encountering Dante.

How do you inspire yourself for both the emotional and the erotic sides of the story?

My readers inspire me. I enjoy hearing from them and knowing that they liked the novels.  I’m also inspired by music, literature, and art.

What's the last book you've read?

I just finished reading “The Problem of Pain,” by CS Lewis, which is a meditation on faith, suffering, and love. You can see some of the books I’ve read on my Goodreads page.

What are you currently working on?

I’m writing a novel, “The Raven,” which will be the first in a new series. It’s a paranormal love story set in the city of Florence. The Professor will have a cameo appearance in it. Readers can find out more about “The Raven”here

Author's Biography: I'm interested in the way literature can help us explore aspects of the human condition - particularly suffering, sex, love, faith, and redemption. My favourite stories are those in which a character takes a journey, either a physical journey to a new and exciting place, or a personal journey in which he or she learns something about himself/herself.

I'm also interested in how aesthetic elements such as art, architecture, and music can be used to tell a story or to illuminate the traits of a particular character. In my writing, I combine all of these elements with the themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the transformative power of goodness.

Dark Musicals trilogy + giveaway

Summary from Goodreads:
The “Phantom” was a musical phenomenon that Rebecca had always found enchanting. She had no idea that her life was about to mirror the play that was her obsession. When her high school drama club chooses “Phantom” as their annual production, Rebecca finds herself in the middle of an unlikely love triangle and the target of a sadistic stalker who uses the lines from the play as their calling card.

Rebecca lands the lead role of Christine, the opera diva, and like her character, she is torn between her two co-stars—Tom the surfer and basketball star who plays the lovable hero, and Justyn, the strangely appealing Goth who is more than realistic in the role of the tortured artist.

Almost immediately after casting, strange things start to happen both on and off the stage. Curtains fall. Mirrors are shattered. People are hurt in true phantom style. They all seem like accidents until Rebecca receives notes and phone calls that hint at something more sinister. Is Justyn bringing to life the twisted character of the phantom? Or in real life are the roles of the hero and the villain reversed? Rebecca doesn’t know who to trust, but she knows she’s running out of time as she gets closer and closer to opening night. Only when the mask is stripped away, will the twenty first century phantom finally be revealed.

Summary from Goodreads:
When Justyn and Rebecca set off to attend the New York School of Performing Arts, they think their dreams are about to come true. To their dismay, they aren’t in high school anymore, and the competition is steep. Rebecca must compete against accomplished singers for a role in the production of Demon Barber, including a stunning Gothic diva with her sights set on Justyn.

It doesn't help that things keep disappearing from their apartment or that Rebecca's father refuses to accept that Justyn is an essential part of her life. Yet, all this seems minimal in comparison to the serial rapist terrorizing the campus.

Consumed by fear and obsessed with revenge, Rebecca and Justyn start living the story of Sweeney Todd—both on and off the stage.

Summary from Goodreads:
Rebecca Hope has looked death in the face twice and lived to tell her tale.

She and the love of her life, Justyn Patko, land a summer internship at a local dinner theater, performing the musical Hyde. While they are excited about their first paid acting gig, they soon find themselves surrounded by more experienced cast mates, jealous of their success. As if the tension isn’t bad enough, they soon discover that the business might be a front for something much more sinister.

When Justyn is accused of a crime that she knows he would never commit, Rebecca must decide if she wants to follow her head or her heart. While trying to prove his innocence, she makes a shocking discovery of her own.

Everyone has something to conceal in the grand finale of the Dark Musicals Trilogy. Rebecca has to look beyond the façade to discover the true Hyde or face her final curtain call.
